Drum Buffer Rope/Critical Chain

Summary of success

Turnover Doubled, Inventory halved, happier staff and best practice due date performance

“ We are delighted with the results . We have addressed our inventory and sales cycle issues. We have the best due date performance in the business. Ensemble are excellent facilitators – the best I’ve seen”

Phillip Zylstra, Managing Director

The Problem

The Skye Group is a successful Australian company whose activities include the management of the design, manufacturing, distribution and in certain instances the retailing of a number of high-profile household apparel brands including OshKosh and Pierre Cardin.

Skye approached Ensemble to find out how to become more productive, more efficient and thereby more profitable?

Due date performance was unacceptable and too much capital was tied up in inventory

The Solution

Constraint analysis allowed us to standardise the design and supply chain process.

The successful and enduring implementation of the required changes was supported by thinking process workshops educating the relevant personnel in the which was critical in getting their support and buy in. As a consequence of their success, Ensemble was invited back to help us in the development of a quality system, implemented drum buffer rope in our manufacturing operations and critical chain and the concerto scheduling tool in the design studio.
