Cadbury Schweppes
Manufacturing
Drum Buffer Rope
Summary of Success
Our engagement resulted in higher production volumes, significant reductions in inventory and work in progress and several production process flows have been optimised, eliminating double and triple handling.
The approach allowed Cadbury to take a fresh approach to production planning and process optimisation and has engaged the workforce in looking at production process improvements more pro-actively.

The Problem
Cadbury's needed to increase productivity and throughput in the assortments area of the business and simultaneously to decrease inventory of WIP and finished goods in the production process.
The Solution
Ensemble was engaged for a two day workshop to identify the constraints in the workflow. The workshop was so insightful that Ensemble was subsequently engaged to develop a system to eliminate inefficiencies in assortments production at the Claremont facility in Tasmania by implementing Drum Buffer Rope and assisting in the creation of a Standard Operating Procedure document to support the change.
Due to Ensemble's insight about the Cadbury supply chain they were also invited to perform a strategic review of Australia/New Zealand operations in moulded chocolate.
